Discover the best places to have breakfast in La Janda (Vejer, Barbate, Conil, Benalup…)
Good morning bikers! This week I wanted to talk about some places where you can have good breakfasts when you go on a bicycle route through the towns of Vejer, Los Caños, Conil, Barbate, Benalup. Most of these places is where locals go often.
This post is aimed at people on holiday who love cycling either with a road bike, mountain bike or a fat bike and are located in the area of La Janda in the province of Cádiz.
Sometimes we decide or route considering where are we going to stop to have breakfast of the “Aperitivo”. This reference point is very important because is where we can socialize, relax and share good moments with the rest of the cyclists.
In La Janda area there are also countless places where you can stop. We would like to share with you some of the ones we like best.
La Venta Luis s a well-known place to stop located in San Ambrosio (Barbate) (Tel. +34 956 43 04 58). Here you can have breakfast quietly either out on the terrace or inside when it is very sunny. They open at 9am.
Located in the same park and next to the road that connects Los Caños with Barbate, you can also find Los Majales del Sol (Tel. +34 856 09 97 92). It is recommended for its tranquility and its shaded spaces on hot days. They open at 10am.
If your route takes you to Conil, we usually stop at two places that are located in the beach area of La Fontanilla. One of them is El Roqueo (Tel. +34 956 44 02 05) which has spectacular views of the beach from the top of the cliff and the other is Francisco Fontanilla (Tel. +34 956 44 08 02) at the base of the beach.
In this area we can find two different sites that stand out for their location and facilities. The first would be Las Dunas (Tel. +34 956 43 72 03), which has a spacious garden outside, where you can have breakfast and rest enjoying the sun and the sea breeze of the Tombolo of Trafalgar. They open at 9am.
The second location is El Sajorami (Tel. +34 956 43 70 72), eventhough a little more expensive (I think it was 5 EUR per person), you will find a buffet where you can have a drink and all the tostas you want with tomato, red butter, foie, sausages, jams, etc. The best thing is that they have a terrace on the outside with tables on the beachfront and with amazing views. It is a great tribute especially if it is the first time you visit this area. They open at 10am.
In Barbate we usually go to Restaurante El Mirador (Tel. +34 956 43 34 83) Also located in the beachfront. You can stretch your muscles while listening to the sea and contemplate the promenade. They open at 10am.
If your route takes you to a Village called Benalup then we suggest you to visit Venta de Los Monteros (Tel. +34 956 41 70 60). La Venta is located 4km far from Benalup on the A-2225 road to Medina Sidonia. This Venta is a must! It always marked in our routes. On Sundays we usually stop there to have our breakfast.
Finally, if you decide to take your bicycle and have breakfast in the beautiful village of Vejer, there are two main areas where locals always go: The first is in Avenida de Andalucia, in front of the clinic, where you can find places like the cafetería La Noria, The Bar Andalucia and La Janda hostel. The second area is located on Avenida San Miguel with the Bar Roio, Cafetería la Noria and Cafetería Miguel.
As you can see, there are quite a few interesting places near Vejer de la Frotera, where you can stop during your bike tour and enjoy a great breakfast.
